From the Schlagerfest team: EUROFEST! At the RVT, Friday 20th January

The Schlagerfest team has been busy working on an exciting new night… schlager and Eurovision are going mainstream in London in a big way! Introducing EUROFEST at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern!!

Are you a dancing queen or a Barbie girl? David Cameron may be pulling back from Europe, but we’re staying in…for the music! The team behind sell-out night Schlagerfest bring you the launch event of EUROFEST at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern from 9pm-3am on Friday 20th January.

We’ll be flying the flag for Europop all night long, including many tracks from European pop’s spiritual core, theEurovision Song Contest. And quite a lot of it won’t be from Sweden. DJ Dave Simmons, the UK’s leading Eurovision DJ, and DJ Don Grant will be bringing their 20 years’ experience of playing all things European. From ABBA to Gina G to Aqua, from Bananarama to Helena Paparizou to Cascada, from Shirley Clamp to Steps to September, from Inna to Eric Saade to 2 Unlimited, Eurofest is the place to come and dance, sing along and be taken to your heaven.

Guaranteed an R&B-free zone!!

The night will feature a LIVE PERFORMANCE at midnight by HAZELL DEAN, the queen of hi-NRG dance pop and multiple award winner for her live performances. Her string of chart entries has included top 10 hits “Searchin’ (I Gotta Find a Man)”, “Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)”, and “Who’s Leaving Who”, and she is also a two-time entrant of the BBC’s A Song for Europe.

Actually knowing much Europop or Eurovision is strictly optional for your enjoyment of Eurofest. These are songs that are expressly designed for you to pick them up well within a single listen, and you’ll be around the most unpretentious crowd you can imagine. And all for less than the cost of a Greek bank!

AND it’s all for charity… all proceeds will be donated to the Terence Higgins Trust. That sounds good to us!

Eurofest doesn’t necessarily replace Schlagerfest – we hope that there will be further Schlagerfest events if the stars align suitably for us to bring you something suitably amazing now that Loom is no longer available. But in the meantime, you will join us at Eurofest, right? 🙂

Schlagerfest update 31.10.11

Loom has now permanently closed, and Schlagerfest is currently without a venue for Friday night events.

Do you know anywhere that might be suitable – central, capacity around 120-150, and available for private hire? Let us know! E-mail

We are scoping alternative options for schlager events in London… watch this space!

Schlagerfest needs YOUR help!

Loom is changing ownership and we still don’t know if or when we will be able to book it again. Alternative central(ish) London club venues, capacity around 120-150, available for private hire on a Friday night, are proving hard to find. Do you know any or think you might? If so please e-mail You will be popular!!

Holding update…

We know that lots of you are already keen to know when the next Schlagerfest will take place. We do have a date in mind but there’s just an issue with the venue at the moment. As soon as we are able to confirm the next date you’ll see it here!

Summer Schlagerfest SOLD OUT!

Summer Schlagerfest is now completely SOLD OUT. We’ve reached Loom’s strict fire capacity, so unfortunately we will NOT be able to sell tickets on the night and will NOT be able to let anyone in who doesn’t already have a ticket. Thanks to everyone who’s contributed to such a fantastic success – see you Friday night!

Schlagerfest: Launch night on Friday 29th July!

Summer Schlagerfest flyer

Schlagerfest, London’s new and independent regular schlager club night, launches on Friday 29th July 2011. This is a charity fundraiser event, taking place from 8.30pm until 2am at Loom in Clipstone Street, Central London. Tickets are available now at and cost just £5 in advance including a free drink offer.

Your musical host for the night will be DJ Dave Simmons, the UK’s leading Eurovision and schlager DJ. He will be playing all your favourite Melodifestivalen and Nordic pop numbers as well as Eurovision favourites from across the continent. The schlager will feature divas such as Carola, Linda Bengtzing, Charlotte Perrelli, Sanna Nielsen and Shirley Clamp – and the ‘new generation’ including Eric Saade, Danny Saucedo and Love Generation. As London’s first Eurovision-related club night since this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, excitement promises to be high and the discussions about this year’s contests animated!

Everyone arriving before 10pm will receive a free Kopparberg cider on entry (or soft drink alternative). From 8.30pm till 11pm, the music will include a liberal sprinkling of classic tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. So whether you particularly appreciate classic schlager and Eurovision, or you just never let a free drink go begging, make sure you arrive early and enjoy the spacious and comfortable venue! From 11pm for the rest of the night, most of the music will be taken from the 2000s onwards.

Following the announcement that Swedish schlager legends Alcazar are “taking a break” after a final performance at Stockholm Pride in August, we could hardly let this event pass without a tribute. For 20 minutes during the peak of the night, some of Alcazar’s many fan-favourite songs will be played back-to-back.

For the first time ever for a schlager club night in London, Summer Schlagerfest is a non-profit event and all proceeds will be donated to the Terrence Higgins Trust. Schlagerfest does not have the use of previous promotional mailing lists, so we urgently need the help of all UK-based schlager fans in spreading the word about our exciting new regular night and the good cause. Please search for and ‘like’ the new Facebook pageSchlagerfest” today, and then ‘invite’ all your Facebook schlager friends to the launch event. You can also follow us on Twitter @Schlagerfest and sign up to the new mailing list to ensure you receive all future updates first.

Advance booking of your tickets at £5 at is highly recommended. Numbers are strictly limited, and any tickets remaining on the door will be sold at the higher price of £8.
